Restoring the Home desktop icon in Mint 21.1

The next release of Linux Mint, Version 21.1 (Vera) will be generally available later this month. In the interim there is a beta version available or testing. One of the changes in the new distro is that the icons for “Computer” and “Home” have been removed from the desktop.

Now, while these drive locations are still accessible through the menu and the file manager, I have got used to having the desktop icons readily available. Fortunately, there is a simple way to re-establish these icons on the desktop.

Navigate to Settings – Desktop where a number of toggle switches will be displayed, including those for Computer and Home. Turning these two switches on immediately restores the icons to the desktop.
