And in that very moment… a cock crowed

A bizarre consequence of installing the 14.1-20190810-UNOFFICIAL-oms-osprey (LineageOS 14.1) custom ROM proved to be that the timer in the clock app was set to use the Rooster Alarm sound file – and there didn’t seem to be anything that I could to the app to change this.

Now, some people may find a cock crowing to be a perfectly reasonable reminder that the hamburgers on the barbecue should be done to perfection; however, I find it extremely annoying.

My solution was to install Google’s clock from the Play Store. The included timer with this app functioned perfectly normally and let me change the alarm sound to any of the available sound files.

It turned out that the clock provided with the custom ROM was Google’s Clock Version 4.5.0 while that downloaded from the Play Store was Version 6.2 (259367952). Who knew that one version of this clock worked differently from another?
